Starlink terminals have once again stopped working along the entire front line in Ukraine, according to Robert ‘Magyar’ Brovdi, the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU):
“Starlink has gone down again along the entire front line. 07:28 local time. Update: as of 08:02 it is gradually being restored. A global SpaceX outage has repeated.”
As Russian outlet RBC notes, Downdetector data suggests that users in several European and Asian countries, as well as in the United States and Canada, experienced disruptions in the Starlink satellite communication system. The majority of complaints (60%) were related to internet connection performance. Another 39% of users reported a complete loss of connection, and 1% complained of difficulties connecting to the network.
A message appeared on the Starlink website stating that the team is working to resolve the issue.
As of spring 2025, Kyiv has approximately 50,000 Starlink terminals at its disposal, which are used by the Ukrainian military for a range of purposes, from basic communication to piloting unmanned systems.
This past July, a similar Starlink outage forced the AFU to postpone several combat operations.
During the AFU counteroffensive in September 2022, Elon Musk ordered the Starlink satellite service to be shut down in the Kherson Region and parts of the Donetsk Region, slowing Ukraine's battlefield progress and undermining Kyiv’s trust in Starlink. Nevertheless, three years later, Starlink remains a key component of Ukraine’s overall war effort.
